Faculty
Because manufacturing and operations leaders require a wide range of knowledge, LGO draws its faculty from both the MIT School of Engineering and the MIT Sloan School of Management. LGO faculty members are among the most outstanding in their fields — experts who have excellent track records working with industry and who have extensive networks that include key industry practitioners. LGO faculty are active in interdisciplinary research and teaching as well as student advising, internship project and thesis supervision, and curriculum development.
They are also part of the world-class MIT faculty, whose members have been repeatedly recognized with the highest awards and honors in their fields.
- 60 current MIT faculty and staff members belong to the National Academy of Engineering, 78 to the National Academy of Sciences, 34 to the Institute of Medicine, and 139 to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
- 77 present and former members of the MIT community have won the Nobel Prize, including eight current faculty members
- 36 current and former members of the MIT faculty have received the National Medal of Science, and two were awarded the National Medal of Technology and Innovation.
