Founded in 1988 as Leaders for Manufacturing, the program was created to develop technically oriented leaders who would help strengthen the U.S. manufacturing industry in the face of emerging global competition. Over the past two decades, the program has expanded and evolved to reflect the rise of service-based companies as well as the increasingly global orientation of operations and manufacturing. In 2009, the program officially became known as Leaders for Global Operations to more accurately convey its broadened focus. Today LGO is the nation's leading graduate, dual-degree program in engineering and management innovation.
LGO is located on the east end of the MIT campus a very short walk from the Kendall/MIT subway stop. Learn more about our staff, directions to our office, and how to contact us.
