Because LGO is a joint venture between the MIT Sloan School of Management and the MIT School of Engineering, students apply to LGO through one of these two schools. Regardless of which school you apply through, your application will be evaluated in the same way and reviewed by LGO, MIT Sloan and evaluated by the engineering department to which you are applying.
Some students choose which school to apply through based on their interests and inclinations, or because they would like to be considered for that school or department in the event that they are not admitted to LGO. Some engineering departments—including Aeronautics and Astronautics, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science—will consider students not admitted to LGO for their master's and/or Ph.D. program. Applicants should check directly with each engineering department about their process for considering LGO applicants. All applicants who apply through MIT Sloan will be considered for the second round of MBA admissions if they are not admitted to LGO.
